Bernard Fairman co-founded Foresight Group in 1984 to raise a new fund for investment in unquoted technology companies based in the UK, the United States and France. He is an executive chairman with over 40 years of private equity experience. Bernard is responsible for the strategic direction and management of Foresight Group through organic growth and acquisitions to reach a leading position in the UK small cap private equity and international infrastructure markets.

Prior to founding Foresight Group, Bernard worked at 3i Ventures as an investment manager where he was responsible for sourcing, evaluating and negotiating investments.

Bernard holds a BA in Applied Economics from the University of Nottingham.

Bernard Fairman

Gary joined Foresight in 2004 and is a Partner and CFO, based in the London office. He has over 27 years of experience. Gary is the Head of finance and administration within Foresight Group LLP, providing or facilitating specialist financial input into corporate, portfolio and VCT decisions. Prior to Foresight, Gary worked at F&amp;C Asset Management as a Company Secretary, where he focused on legal &amp; tax compliance, financial compliance, technical and financial reporting and corporate finance. He has also worked at EY, focusing on audit and risk assurance.

Gary is a Chartered Fellow of the Securities Institute as well as a Chartered Accountant. He holds a BAcc from the University of Stirling.

Gary Fraser

David joined Foresight in 2004 and is the Chief Investment Officer, based in the London office. He has over 45 years of experience and is responsible for the overall management of the Foresight UK investment portfolio, through the complete investment cycle from initial investment to ultimate realisation. Prior to Foresight David worked at Advent Venture Partners as a Principal in the VCT Unit, where he was responsible for managing Advent’s two listed Venture Capital Trusts, comprising a portfolio of over thirty unquoted investments, mainly in technology companies. He has also spent almost 20 years working at 3i, where he offered advice to public and private companies on corporate strategy, acquisitions, disposals, mergers and capital raising.

David is a Fellow of Chartered Association of Certified Accountants and holds a First Class BSc in Chemistry from the University of Bristol.

David Hughes

Ricardo joined Foresight in 2011 and is a Partner and Head of Infrastructure, based in the London office. A member of the firm’s Executive Committee, he has 17 years of experience in fund management, sustainable infrastructure investment and financing in the UK and internationally. During his time at Foresight Ricardo has lead Foresight’s flagship listed solar fund, the Foresight Solar Fund Limited (“FSFL”). 

Prior to joining Foresight, Ricardo worked at Espirito Santo Investment where he focused on lending and advisory for the energy infrastructure and transportation sectors.

Ricardo Piñeiro

Alison Hutchinson is CEO of fintech charity The Pennies Foundation (which she founded in 2009) working with retailers to enable digital giving and serves as the senior independent non-executive director at DFS PLC and Yorkshire Building Society.

Alison has a strong background in both IT and retail financial services, having started her career at IBM becoming global director of online financial services before joining Barclays Bank where she held senior management positions including marketing director of Barclaycard. She subsequently moved to specialist mortgage provider Kensington Group in 2004 as managing director and then Group CEO, leading the successful sale of the business to Investec in 2008.

In 2016, Alison was awarded a CBE for services to the economy and charities. She holds a BSc in Technology &amp; Business Studies from Strathclyde University.

Alison Hutchinson CBE

Geoff Gavey joined the Foresight Group board in 2015 as an independent Non-Executive Director. He is the managing director of FNB International Trustees Limited and deputy head of banking for FNB Channel Islands Bank. He is a member of the audit and risk committee of both FNB International Trustees Limited and FNB Channel Islands Bank.

Geoff is also a director of Ashburton Investments International (Holdings) Limited, the holding company of Ashburton (Jersey) Limited, a Jersey investment management firm. He was formerly a director of Fairbairn Trust Company Limited, a subsidiary of Old Mutual and worked for Lloyds Bank International in both Guernsey and Gibraltar.

Geoff is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and a registered Trust and Estate Practitioner. He holds a BSc in Mining Engineering from University College, Cardiff.

Geoffrey Gavey

Michael (Mike) Liston is Non-Executive Chairman of JTC PLC having joined the company as an independent non-executive director of JTC Group Holdings in 2012 and has extensive experience across public and private sector businesses. He was chief executive of Jersey Electricity plc between 1993 and 2008, leading the transformative diversification of the business.

Mike has held a number of non-executive roles, including: chairman of AIM-listed Renewable Energy Generation Ltd; chairman of AIM-listed KSK Emerging India Fund; and chairman of Jersey Post. Mike was formerly chairman of The Jersey Appointments Commission, established by the States of Jersey to ensure probity in senior public sector appointments. He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.

In 2007, Mike was awarded an OBE for services to the electricity industry and charity. He was elected as a Jurat (Lay Judge) of the Royal Court of Jersey in 2012 retiring from this position in 2017.

Michael Liston OBE

Peter English co-founded Foresight Group in 1984 to raise a new fund for investment in unquoted technology companies based in the UK, the US and France. He has over 50 years of experience and, although partly retired, maintains a keen interest in the firm, acting as a mentor to the Private Equity team.

Prior to Foresight, Peter worked at 3i Ventures as an Investment Manager, where he was recruited to make early stage technology investments in Europe and North America.

Peter holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Manchester.

Peter English

Stephen joined Foresight in 2012 and currently works as a Partner and Group Finance Director in the London office. He has over 17 years' worth of accounting experience and is responsible for the overall financial reporting and control across the corporate group, as well as a number of the funds we manage. This includes the strategic financial planning &amp; analysis; tax and regulatory compliance; and the associated management and statutory reporting.

Prior to Foresight, Stephen worked at Marks &amp; Spencer plc as a Senior Finance Manager where he focused on the international subsidiaries and franchise partners, plus the general merchandise supply chain and logistics. He has also worked as an Audit Executive at Ernst &amp; Young LLP, working in their Consumer Products audit division, focusing on a number of large listed and privately owned businesses.

Stephen is a Chartered Accountant (ICAS) and holds an MChem in Chemistry from Oxford University.

Stephen Thayer

Jo joined Foresight in 2015 and currently works as a Managing Director, Group Company Secretary &amp; Head of Governance. Her broad knowledge and experience derives from over 30 years in the finance industry, having held senior positions at JTC Guernsey, Credit Suisse, HSBC and Bank of Bermuda, in roles such as head of accounts, company secretarial, investor services, compliance and new business/client lifecycle. Jo is based in Guernsey and sits on the boards of the Guernsey licensee and other Group companies. She is responsible for the Group’s governance arrangements, including internal and external oversight, sits on the Risk Committee and engages with the various teams and advisers in relation to Group projects and initiatives.

Jo holds an MSc in Corporate Governance from Bournemouth University and is a Chartered Secretary (ICSA).

Jo Nicolle

Jonathan Parsons joined Foresight Group in April 2022 as Head of Risk and is responsible for all control functions within Foresight Group including risk, compliance and oversight of the internal audit function.

He has over 20 years of risk management experience within the investment management industry. Prior to Foresight, he held senior roles at consultancies and alternative asset managers, including 10 years at Thames River Capital.

Jonathan is an FRM, and member of both the Global Association of Risk Professionals and the Chartered Institute for Securities &amp; Investment.

Teresa Micock joined Foresight Group in 2018 and is a Director and Group Head of Compliance, based in the London office. Teresa is responsible for the management of the compliance function at Foresight Group LLP and reports to the CFO and COO. She also serves as the Compliance Officer and MLRO for PiP Manager Ltd. Prior to Foresight, Teresa worked as a Compliance Manager at Bowmark Capital LLP.

Teresa holds a Diploma in Investment Compliance, a Masters in Law and was a practicing lawyer for eight years before becoming a compliance professional.

Suzie Ruffley joined Foresight Group in 2017 as Head of People. She was brought on board to establish the HR function at Foresight and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the People Strategy across the group. Prior to this role, she served as Head of HR Operations at Kew Gardens and held various HR positions at State Street. 

Suzie is an Occupational Psychologist with over 19 years of experience in human capital. She holds a BSc in Applied Psychology and two Master's degrees, one in Occupational Psychology and another in Coaching Psychology.

James Dobler joined Foresight Group in 2021 and is a Director and Head of Compliance UK in the London office.

James is responsible for the management of the compliance function at Foresight Group LLP and reports to Teresa Micock, Director and Group Head of Compliance. Prior to Foresight, James was Compliance Manager and SMF17 MLRO for two UK Alternative Investment Fund Managers within the IQEQ Group (formerly SGG Group) and held AML and Operations roles at Hargreaves Lansdown Asset Management.

James holds a Masters (LLM) in International Commercial Law and an ICA International Diploma in Governance, Risk &amp; Compliance.

Dan Wells

Richard joined Foresight in 2012 and is a Partner in the London office. He has over 14 years’ investment experience in renewable energy and core infrastructure. He is responsible for raising and deploying capital for Foresight’s diversified Energy Infrastructure strategy which encompasses renewable generation, renewable enabling infrastructure and transmission. Richard has overseen all of Foresight’s investments into the flexible generation, storage and wind sectors to date. Richard was heavily involved in the early growth of Foresight’s UK solar business and co-led the Initial Public Offering of Foresight Solar Fund Limited. On first joining Foresight, Richard had responsibility for the firm’s PFI investments and managed a retail focused secondary market PFI fund.

Prior to Foresight Richard worked for a leading PFI investor and led the equity investment into PPP infrastructure assets with aggregate value in excess of £1 billion across the UK and Canada. This included investing balance sheet capital, securing co-investment partners and structuring project finance and capital markets financing solutions for greenfield infrastructure assets.

Richard holds a BA in Economics from the University of Liverpool and is a CFA Charterholder.

Andrew has a career of over 31 years in the energy industry in Australia &amp; Asia, beginning as a lawyer on many of Australia’s major energy privatisation projects in the 1990s, before moving to Asia with China Light &amp; Power. He returned to Australia in 2003 to lead TRU Energy, CLP’s Australian energy business, which subsequently became Energy Australia.

Andrew joined ICG in 2006 and has been responsible for, or overseen, the acquisition of many of the current assets in EIT, and was instrumental in the establishment of ARIF, which has now become one of Australia’s leading renewable energy funds. He is a senior spokesman within the Australian energy industry. 

Andrew is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, was a trustee of a major Australian pension fund for over 10 years and has been Chairman of ICG since 2014.

Christian Corpetti

Ed joined Foresight Group in 2019 as Head of Valuations across their infrastructure department, with responsibility for the team providing quarterly valuations and analysis on a portfolio spanning over 350 assets and £9.5bn AUM. He joined the senior management team responsible for FGEN (formerly known as JLEN) in 2022 and he has over 13 years’ experience in infrastructure and renewables.

Prior to joining Foresight, Ed was Head of Valuations at John Laing Capital Management where he was responsible for valuations and financial analysis covering JLEN and the JLIF social infrastructure fund – with a combined portfolio valuation of circa £2bn. Prior to that, Ed was a Project Finance, Modelling and Valuations manager at RSM, where he focused on the origination and management of model build, model audit and training engagements, having previously started his career in audit.

Ed is a qualified Chartered Accountant and holds a 2.1 BA Hons in Business and Management from Oxford Brookes University.

Ben is an Investment Director based in the London office focusing on energy and infrastructure investments. Prior to joining Foresight, Ben worked at a renewable energy developer as Head of Transactions covering both M&amp;A and project finance. He has broad energy and infrastructure experience including as a debt and equity investor at Gravis Capital, as a lender and advisor at MUFG bank and as a corporate finance advisor at KPMG.

Based in London, Ross focuses on supporting Foresight Solar Fund Limited (“FSFL”) as part of its senior management team and delivering the investment objective of the company.

Prior to joining Foresight, Ross worked in the infrastructure teams at InfraRed Capital Partners, John Laing Plc and KPMG. Through this he developed extensive renewable energy and core infrastructure investment experience across the EMEA and US.

Stefania joined Foresight in 2016 in our London office and she heads up the bioenergy team within the Infrastructure Portfolio team. She is also fully involved on the management of projects in Italy, including the 56MW solar portfolio. 

Prior to Foresight, Stefania worked at Ricardo Energy Environment as Principal Consultant where she established the technical and commercial due diligence team on a variety of technologies such as anaerobic digestion, conventional energy from waste, gasification, biomass plants and onshore wind projects. Before joining Ricardo, Stefania worked at Fichtner Consulting Engineers and prior to that at Atkins were she focused on equipment design and sizing, layouts, specifications in the oil and gas as well as nuclear industries and liaison with suppliers in advisory capacity.

Stefania is a Chartered Chemical Engineer in UK and in Italy and has a MSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Padua, Italy.

Hugi is a Partner responsible for sales and marketing within the retail customer base and is based in the London office. Prior to Foresight, Hugi worked at Octopus. He holds a BSc in Psychology from Nottingham Trent University.

Nick joined Foresight in September 2012 and is a Partner, responsible for the growth, management and strategy of Foresight’s Sales team. He works from the London office. Previously, Nick worked at Octopus Investments and has over 15 years of experience in investment management distribution. Nick Morgan

Bethany is a Managing Director and Head of Strategic Partnerships, responsible for holding strategic relationships with IFA networks, nationals, partnerships and service providers across the UK. Her focus is on building relationships and establishing how Foresight’s investment proposition can best support the wider financial market, advisers and clients. 

Bethany has over 15 years of experience having joined Foresight in 2007. She holds a BA 2:1 in Politics from the University of Leeds, the IMC qualification and the STEP Certificate for Financial Services – Trusts and Estate Planning. She is currently studying for the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning.

Paddy joined Foresight in 2017 as a Business Development Manager and became Head of London Business Development Managers in December 2018. He manages the office based Retail Sales team working out of London, selling our suite of tax efficient investments and OEICs.

James is a Senior Business Development Manager based in our London office. Prior to Foresight, James ran a Hong Kong-based executive search firm which supported the growth of APAC’s alternative investment firms. 

James holds a BSc degree in Mathematics and Economics from Durham University.

James Currie

David joined Foresight in January 2020 and is a Hybrid Business Development Manager. Prior to Foresight, David enjoyed a successful career at Mason Blake, a leading investment management search and selection firm in the city as a Senior Consultant. He holds a BA in Business Management from Bournemouth University.

Katie is an Executive Business Development Manager based in the Nottingham office. Prior to Foresight, Katie worked at Enterprise Holdings. She holds a BA First-Class in Management from the University of Leeds.

Sarah has over 25 years' experience in the financial services industry, both in an Advisory and Management capacity working in the UK and Asia. She is now based in Poole covering the South Coast. 

Sarah holds a BA in Economics from Swansea University and is a Chartered Financial Planner.

Prior to Foresight, Matt ran a recruitment business helping ambitious financial service companies across the world to grow.

He holds a BSc in Geography and Urban Planning and is passionate about sustainability in the built world.
